COMMUNITY PRAYER | FEBRUARY 5 - 11

Please post any requests, praises, concerns, troubles, joys, anything via the comments so that we can pray for one another as a community. Simply click on "Comments" at the bottom of this post.

This week, our focus was on being 'called to ministry' - and how we all are ambassadors for Christ. Monica read to us from Matthew 9: "36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." Let's pray for more workers!

Support one another as we go about our weeks in prayer, that we may see opportunities to share Christ as an overflow of our relationship with Him. Think of those in TILT who are teachers (Sarah, Nick, Anne, Cheryl, Laura...), students (Matt A, Mat B, Greg K, Andrea L, David L, Katie W, Ben W to name a few...), in 'paid'/'official' ministry (we need a better word for this!) of some sort (Monica K, Becki L, Jason M, Jan D), as well as anyone else! Post comments to let us know what's happening in your life so we can pray for you.

Climate change has become the number one news issue, as well as the top concern of all Canadian voters (higher than health care). A report released last week unequivocally backed up the trend of global warming. Pray that this would not become a political spin issue, but would be dealt with honestly, and effectively. How can we as a community make changes? God, what sacrifices do we need to make as a community, a church body, individuals?

Mon, thanks for your awesome talk on Sunday. I felt primed and ready to go out for the week after it! Pray for boldness for all of us, to know that we are competent ministers of a new covenant, made competent by God and not by our skills!!

The first prayer in the divine offices this morning was for social justice and immediately I thought of a front page article in the Globe this morning that Canada's Natives are launching a lawsuita gainst the federal government. There are 27,000 Native children in foster homes! Pray for compassion and action to resolve these systemic issues, bring reconciliation to all peoples in our country. Hey Guys,

Scott and I are here sitting in a Williams pub at McMaster University. We are both in a Baptist History and Polity course at McMaster Divinity College. Our trips to and from Toronto have been a blast. The subject of "vocation" and "calling" came up today. Being in seminary is a time of discernment regarding those areas. If you could all keep Scott and I in your prayers as we wrestle with God, ourselves and community to figure out what the heck we're supposed to do beyond seminary that would be awesome.

We hope your doing well. Let us know how we can be praying for you!

Peace,

Matt and Scott

Hey Jay,
We trust you are actually speaking, unless I'm way behind on the youth movement and there is now something called skeaking. Either way, we'll miss you on Sunday evening and be praying for you this weekend!

Hey there friends. I just wanted to ask for your prayers regarding a retreat for spring garden pastors, elders and deacons that is this friday and saturday. As Spring Garden as a whole seeks God's leading into mission, communication and unity amongst these teams is key. Please pray that the unity the Spirit has already made may be kept and experienced as we pray together, eat together, and discuss a variety of issues together. Thanks!!

Hi guys - praying for your requests. Look forward to hearing about the weekend Jay! Hope your WHOLE fam is doing well.

Prayer Request for AIA and myself:
AIA WINTER RETREAT THIS weekend... I know I put it on last week, but your prayers for the students, for the worship team (and me!), and for safety would be grand!

Praise: So far the baby is doing well... praise for that! Prayer for good blood sugars would be great.

Enjoy the second half of the week,
Monica
