And so begins another week...although it didn't appear to be easy to post to this at TILT tonight, that was a PowerPoint issue, NOT website issue. It's easy! Really! Just go to 'Comments' at the bottom of this post, click on it and tell us your story and how we can pray for you or praise with you. If you have troubles email tilt.toronto@gmail.com.
Continue to pray for Barb in Scotland (see TILT main page and search for Barb and you'll hear her story), and Jen-Mai for healing in her back.
I would encourage you to check out the Divine Offices or The Once-A-Day approach, in which there are general categories of prayer that people within the TILT community are praying through - our city, our country, our government, TILT, friends, family, the Church around the world, the poor, the homeless, the persecuted, the list goes on!
If you feel overwhelmed when it comes to prayer sometimes, be encouraged:
And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. - Romans 8:26-27

Hey friends,
For those of you who remember Esther Penny, I am sad to report that her father died yesterday. Please pray for her and her family as they grieve his death and their loss and as they celebrate his life.
On a positive note, Neil Bickerton has an interview this Wednesday for a possible firefighter position! I know he'd appreciate our prayers!
For myself, I'm still playing catch up with past school projects and start a new course on Wednesday! It's kind of a constant stresser for me, so I'd appreciate your prayers in that!
Thanks! Christ be with you. Greg
Thanks for the areas to pray through, Greg. We will also pray for you as you seek to be obedient to the Sabbath through Lent (and beyond right!). Now, since you are 'fasting' the Sabbath through Lent, does this mean we can make you work extra hard on the days when you are 'off' Lent once a week? (kind of like eating chocolate at TILT if you are giving it up for Lent?)
I would also love prayer about managing the important over the urgent. I have many 'pressing' things in my life these days that constantly add pressure to my life, but need discernment about where to focus my energies. (Wedding and marriage of course will be a top priority, but then there's TILT/school/work/normal life stuff.)
There are several of us travelling to attend Esther's father's funeral on Wednesday. Please pray for safety on the road trip, it is a two hour drive to Flesherton.
I was just reading Wednesday's Terce Divine Office - the reading was the testimony of John the Baptist who prepared the way for Jesus, and the pray was for the leaders of TILT and Spring Garden. Pray that the leaders of our faith community would prepare the community as a whole for the ministry of Jesus in us, among us, and through us out into the world!
Hi Scott,
Here's an update on my Mum. She's not doing very well, right now; has no interest in food and according to my Dad, seems to be getting slowly worse since they were into emerg. on Monday. I feel frustrated that I can't be up there, yet I want her to get better soon. Her birthday is on Sunday.
Thanks for praying!,
Cheers,
Nick
Nick, we will definitely pray for your mom - and her appetite especially!
Last year, Vocation painted an apartment at Willowtree and it was a really valuable thing to do for that community. We are thinking of doing this again and perhaps on a more regular basis. Pray for God's leading in how to go about doing this in a fair manner, and even whether or not this is what he is calling us to!
On a personal note - I've decided that despite my seminary training, I have a distinct lack of knowledge of the Bible...so I'm starting one of those read the Bible in a year plans. And since I tend to forget everything, I started a blog to record my thoughts. Some prayer for discipline would be great! These habits tend to last a couple of weeks and then fade, but I don't want this to happen here...
Cheryl,
How was the funeral today?
Thanks for praying for those of us who travelled to Flesherton for Esther's Dad's funeral. The weather and road conditions were amazing. Lot's of sharing and caring in the car on the way. Esther was happy to see us as she didn't think anyone was coming from Toronto. She felt supported and loved. The funeral was all that her father wanted and was a wonderful tribute to a man who had pastored most of his life.
On a side note we lost our power for 10 hours during the day yesterday (Thurs). What a way to start Lent, giving up electricity and heat. God was gracious and no food was spoiled, the pipes didn't freeze even though the house dropped down 10 degrees. A couple of you knew that had happened and even though the suggestion was made that I go without power for 40 days, I've decided it is not going to happen. But it was certainly a reminder to pray for those who live in these conditions and worse continually. I am really blessed.
